The Sri Lanka Rising's wish list of Cabinet Ministers of Mahinda Rajapaksa government 2010 are listed below.
When there are more than one proposed candidate, the preferred candidate is highlighted in yellow. The proposed total number of cabinet ministers are 30 (Including President and PM).
Following three key factors are considered in selecting ministers.
- Efficiency and effectiveness
- Not a corrupt character
- Patriot who genuinely love the country and people
1. President
Ministry of Defense
Ministry of Finance and Policy Planning
Ministry of Religious Affairs
Hon. Mahinda Rajapaksa
Note – Defence and Finance ministry must be in the control of Executive president. Being the president elected by the vote of the people he should hold the national policy planning responsibilities. When the leader is religious, it’s more benefitted to the country. Therefore LankaRising wish that president will retain Religious Affairs ministry so that he will consistently in tact with religious leaders and religious activities.
2. Prime Minister
Basil Rajapaksa
Note– Considering the threats to the life of president, country need a close ally sharing same visionary to bring this country in case of contingency. Basil Rajapaksa can be a very active PM as opposed to traditional passive role in post 1978 era. We need positive and active politics to accelerate developing the country.
Rathnasiri Wickramanayaka
Note– New government will abolish executive presidency soon and Mahinda Rajapaksa will be appointed executive Prime Minister. He will continue to contest for elections and serve the nation as long as people support and love him.
3. Minister of Public Administration, Home Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs
Dr. Sarath Amunugama
4. Minister of Education
J R P Suriyapperuma

Note – Current minister Susil Premajayantha has failed in reforming Education in line with Mahinda Chinthanaya. He has just followed the anti-national educational policies introduced during UNP and CBK era. Education is critical area which forms the vision of the next generation. We need a great visionary to lead this critical ministry. J R P Suriyapperuma is the preferred choice and Champika Ranawaka or V J M Lokubandara is the alternative choices. Bandula Gunawardana is another possible candidate to fit into this post, but his energetic leadership is much needed for current post he plays effectively.
5. Minister of Agricultural Development & Agrarian Services Development

Good not seeing Mervin and Bogollagama.
You are right Education misinstry should see drastic change.
Vasudeva may be a radical labour minister.
Better Chamal step down from ministry and let youth of Namal to enter Cabinet.
It's likely Rajiva Wijesingha is appointed somewhere in education, which isn't a bad move.
Still too many ministries!
It should bring down to max 25..
Can’t we join below?
Ministry of Religious Affairs + Ministry of Cultural Affairs
Ministry of Youth Affairs + Ministry of Sports
Ministry of Housing + Ministry of Construction and Engineering Services
Ministry of Irrigation and Water Management + Ministry of Water Supply and Drainage
Ministry of Posts & Telecommunication + Ministry of Mass Media and Information
Common Amenities can go with Social Services and Social Welfare
Ministry of Eastern provincial development = should take it off. Why do we need a ministry for one province? Then what about North? What about Sabaragamuwa? What is the use of provincial councils?
I Think Kirigalpoththa's suggestion is really valid,,, We can further combine related ministries to make it closer to 25.
Why not give Patriot Vimal Weerawansa a chance as PM
If real patriotic people would be given a chance to lead country, Ours will be the best country of the world.
Honestly Mr.V.Muralitharan should be given a cabinet ministry as he served to the country and played a crucial role to irredicate the terrorism which benifits the country and made peace forever. Moreover he is very honest to country and president. He may be given North-East Development Ministry.
i think namal should wait b4 he gets a post. he has enough time.. but in case he should.. youth affairs sounds good..
i'm not sure about the Aluthgamage appointment. it'll have certain consequences.. ;-)
i think dinesh should get a much better position to do more work.
i'd support Sudarshani for health, Ranawaka for construction or Land Development &, amunugama or Ranawaka for education
