The tale of two headed beast

14 Jan 2010

It is well known fact that UNP has been playing the comprador capitalist role in Sri Lankan politics. The Western colonial masters gradually transferred the political power into the hand of UNP leadership before they (officially) left the country. In late 1960’s JVP entered into politics in the other extreme of Marxism.
From its inception, JVP had faith on revolutionary blood shed than democracy. This was proved once in 1971 and again in 1988/89 period.

Both these extremist political parties have amassed blood and tears in Sri Lankan society. So far JVP and UNP have been marching in two different extreme paths pretending to be enemies and alternatives of each other. However all this has been changed after Mahinda Rajapaksa government completely defeated LTTE terrorism together with their allied Western political camp.

It is important to note that both UNP and JVP did not directly support the second independence struggle against combined forces of terrorism and western neo-colonialism. Therefore, both UNP and JVP fall into the dustbin of politics in Sri Lanka. This reality forces these extremist parties to form a strategic political alliance of survival.

The western masters timely middled and formed a temporary raft to aid the sinking elements. They hand picked Sarath Fonseka to appoint as the captain. Now both cobra and mongoose of Sri Lankan politics have step on the raft of survival in order to weather the storm of national unity and dignity over foreign politico-economic interventions.

There was inertia in bringing these extreme politico-economic elements in common ground. The bogus promise of “Abolition of Presidency” was molded to overcome initial barrier among the carders of both the parties.

Now Somawansa is the best ally of Ranil’s capitalist policies. He is a key note speaker of comprador business community of Colombo. However, UNP has taken all the precautions to not to attenuate its pro capitalist policies even while hobnob with JVP comrades.

It is clear that Sarath Fonseka preferred to use JVP as the public interface while keeping UNP for its back end politico-economic mechanism. The UNP-JVP coalition had a one common mission when they allied one month back. They desperately wanted to market the unknown evil Sarath Fonseka to the Sri Lankan nation in quick time before his real character is exposed. Then they want to cling onto him for mere political survival. This is the same strategy that West and its INGO puppies successfully adapted in bringing CBK into Sri Lankan politics.

However Sri Lankan nation has learned its past lessons and history never repeat again in Sri Lankan soil! In January 26, the verdict of common people will be loud and out. When people offer beetle to the people’s president on Election Day, we will hear the fatal singing of the swan. The scream of foxes and barking of puppies will diminished together with fatal singing of the white swan.
