The tragedy is that these crooks at LankaEnews have achieved this by using a very dirty trick. LankaEnews web site uses auto refresh feature for their advantage. LankaEnews has strategically set the following meta tag in their pages.

This means that pages in LankaEnews get auto refresh in every 300 s intervals. Each page refresh is considered to be a new page view by most of the popular web monitoring and ranking systems.
Fooling the Page ranking systems and users
If you visit www.lankaenews.com and attended to some other work without closing the browser, the page get refresh in every 5 minutes without any purpose. For one hour it will be 12 unnecessary page refreshes. It will be count as 12 page visits to lankaenews.com by the on line page ranking systems. Lanka-e-News dirty tricks include cheating the payments of journalists and other staff payments. They have fooled some ex-JVP cadres to work for them without payments. The ex-journalists of Lanka-e-News can prove this.
I don't know about the point on non-payment and cheating their journalists, but I don't see the refreshing feature as a cheat as such.
It is a news website and well if you are in it for one hour, you will be refreshing it more than 12 times per hour (are you telling me that some one looks at just a single article for more than an hour?). Besides, lankaenews.com has that refresh tag only on their frontpage, which contains a syndication of all the news.
Being a news website, I think they can justify themselves that they provide the latest news by refreshing the page. (Why on earth would you be looking at the frontpage for more than 1 hour?)
Btw, what's your take on cricinfo with regards to refreshing content every minute?
True,,, non of the professional news publishers use this kind of dirty tricks... because you can fool some people for some time,,, but not all the time. !
We all know lankaEnews is back licking proxy of INGO's,,, they will lick untill they get funded by INGO's and get vanished after some time,, just like vikalpa prints like 'Ukthiya', 'Ravaya' etc..
All news sites does , including cnn but refresh site may wary.
i live out side , i visit len , dm . adaderana of sl more often than any other sl sites.
Atleast Lanka-E-News is the site which is not sucking up to the govt and revealing the non democratic dark side of what's going on in SL right now!!

I have few questions regarding this.
* http://www.cricinfo.com refresh its scorecard pages (nearly once a min)more than lankaenews does.Normally viewers are keep looking at this page more than hours.If this is true sites such as cricinfor would be the top at alexa rating.But it is Not.

Crick info site update head lines very frequently with match staus updates. Therefore it has genuine reason to refresh main page at intervels. But LankaEnews does not publish more than one or two articles a day (Some time they do not publish any new articles for few days). So whats the genuine reason for lankaeNews to refresh its page in every 10 min????
Increase page impression for ranks and by fooling the readers and utilizing his bandwidth. Every unnecessary page refresh account for power consumption in hundreds of computers around the world. !!!

in other words the Lankaenews is capable of fooling any hi tech rating organisation. Can we believe this. I am sure Alexa knows and they will do the needful.
It doesn't matter for the majority of the LEN viewers except for the few who are laundering dirty under wears of the corrupted culprits. Long Live LANKA E NEWS!!
