What made Ranil Wickramasingha to celebrate the 61st Independence day in isolation?

7 Feb 2009

When all Sri Lankans proudly celebrated the 61st Independence Day on 4th February 2009, Ranil Wickramasingha and his political ally celebrated the Independence Day in isolation at Kundasale in Kandy as a part of their political agenda for the Central Province election.

The main theme of this year’s Independence Day is to celebrate the victory of ‘fight against terrorism’. The whole nation other than few isolated traitors fully supported the government and the military forces and, therefore the victory is widely celebrated in the country.

However, Ranil Wickramasingha and his close followers in UNP never helped or at least appreciated national obligation of eliminating terrorism from our mother country. Most of the military victories were either insulted or took lightly in joking fashion. Some UNP second level leaders try to rectify UNP’s anti-national stand, but failed to change the attitude of this born muppet traitor. So they had to cross over to the government and support the government as individuals or groups.

Now the fight against terrorism is winning. Alas! when whole nation is celebrating the victory, Ranil Wickramasingha is now outsider of this great national victory.

When national flag start fluttering in political meetings, it was a grave issue for Ranil Wickramasingha. He brought a national flag to UNP media briefing and critisised the use of Lion flag in political meetings. He simply forgot the fact that national flag has found new value in the hearts of the people and if politics discussed in political rallies are in line with national interests there is no conflict in fluttering national flags in the rallies. But Ranil Wickramasingha and UNP have been advocating foreign politics molded in Britain and USA and presented by Norway embassy. So they found Lion flag as a foreign and mismatching entity in political rallies.

On 4 th February 2009, Ranil Wickramasingha who is internally displaced politician in Sri Lankan politics celebrated independence day in his own fashion with bunch of rotten and rejected politicians. Those who accompanied his independence day celebration at Kundasale were Rauf Hakeem of Muslim Congras (Hakeem fraction), Wickramabahu Karunarathna of New Sama Samaja Party (NSSP), Sirithunga Jayasooriya of United Socialist Front (USF) , Mano Ganeshan of Western People’s Front (WPF) and prominent INGO agent Nimalka Fernando. The list of his Independence Day ally itself shows the type of independence that Ranil Wickramasingha is now celebrating.

The people’s independence of 2009 and beyond

6 Feb 2009

This years Independence Day celebration (Nidahas Samaruma) is unique in the history of Sri Lanka. Since 1948, we (common people) have witnessed comprador local agents of post colonial era celebrating their achievement in effective transfer of power from their colonial masters. Common people were asked to come and witnessed their celebrations every year. We discussed this tragedy of the nation and its historical background in the verge of last year’s Independence Day (Post: Challenges after sixty years of ndependence. Feb 03, 2008). There we discussed that we have at last elected a true genuine leader who can fight to win independence of common people of this country.

By this year’s independence celebration, we have achieved most of the critical milestones and Sri Lankan nation is marching forward in all fronts. That is why common people of this country have shown great interest in elebrating this year’s Independence Day. The national flag is commonly seen weaving proudly in most of the houses and vehicles. We can see decorations for Independence Day in most of the towns. It’s the common people who have involved in all those celebrations, because now they are sensing the pride and happiness of fresh stream of independence.

The last year was the most difficult and demanding year for the Sri Lankan nation in the recent history. It was a testing time of our national leadership in both political and military wings. The common people fully backed the leadership to weather all sort of local and international plots against the ‘Fight Against Terrorism’. The Sri Lankan nation has shown great commitments in the last two years. Now they want to celebrate reaps of hard work and dedication.

After all these celebrations, we should never relax. We have few moments to tighten the last nail of ‘Fascist Tiger Terrorism’. We are yet to target and eliminate the enemy terrorist leader. All local and international evil forces will continue to pressurise us to rescue terrorist leader so that to keep the cancer remain in our emerald land for some more time so that they can continue their vicious politico-economic agenda in war crippled island. The local comprodor political dynasties and their business partners will intensify their vicious campaigns to win back their lost ‘independence’ over the freedom of common people of this country.

Once the ‘Fight Against Terrorism’ is won and territorial integrity is established, we have another challenge this year. It’s the challenge of winning the economic freedom. It’s our next challenge to drive our victorious nation to win our ‘Economic Freedom’ by actively involve in building National Economy. That’s why President in his Independence Day speech requested all the expatriate Sri Lankans to come back to mother land and be part of the second phase of bulding our unique contry with heritage and culture to the next level of development and prosperity.
