Piripaharan was their military choice while CBK and Ranil were their political agents.
However they could not fulfill their mission due to ever awakened true patriotic forces of the country. The Maha Sangha came into lead the fight against federalism for which Ven. Soma thero played an active role. It ultimately resulted in both Ranil and CBK being defeated in the hand of real patriots’ choice, Mahinda Rajapaksa.
CBK – the paraded queen from England
CBK had been living in London for more than 5 years with no political involvement in Sri Lanka. At that time she had not any experience in governing even at Pradesiyasaba (local government) level.
But suddenly in 1994, she was parade into Sri Lankan politics by couple of people (Mangala and SB were prominent among them) calling her modern “Vihara Maha Devi”. She was presented to the nation attired with traditional ossary and pebble necklaces. The so called INGO funded “Vikalpa” media was the trumpeters of CBK saga.
In less than one year, after brief period of rule as a chief minister of Western Province, CBK was hurriedly appointed as the presidential candidate for the main opposition.
Good percentage of people who voted for her in the presidential election had not even seen her physically and no need to mention about knowledge or awareness of her political character or vision. At that time it was popularly named as “CBK surge” and people of this country was in a trance under so called ‘CBK surge’.
But it took only a couple of months for the people of this country to identify what this so called ‘CBK surge’ is all about, and more importantly who were really behind the ‘CBK surge’.
In her very first budget, CBK (who also took the ministry of finance) presented the list of government institutions that is going to be privatized under her government. The list included couple dozens of institutions including the national career Airlanka and gas corporation (later sold out to Shell Company). The ‘federal constitution’ was later unveiled after series of brain washing campaigns like “Sudu Neluma” and “Thavalama” funded by INGOs of the West.
It was an era of confusion, frustration and misery for true patriotic people of Sri Lanka. They came out strongly and lessons learned. The Maha Sangha and the true patriotic leaders rallied round Mahinda Rajapaksa who had proven track records and necessary leadership qualities. We all are now witnessing the result of that correct decision.
History repeats only if lessons are not learned
The Queen CBK was brought into SL politics and played her part to serve imperialism, separatism and corrupted businessmen, and back now she is in her palace in London.
The Western masters have now chosen another ‘Unknown political character’ to confuse the people and grab the power because they can no longer convince their natural choice Ranil Wickramasinghe. The anti-national elements are now parading their new hand picked choice promising “New Sri Lanka”. However in reality the “New Sri Lanka” that on their mind is the “Old Sri Lanka” that paved way for them to exploit under political instability.
They feel that it is easier to market the unknown General (or rather fool the people) in Politics because his political character is yet a mystery to the nation. People say history repeats. But it is our duty to learn from the history and work so that the miserable and unfortunate mistakes in the history will never repeat in the future.

People like you will blame everything that happens to SL to the West. The West has nothing but to conspire about SL, especially against patriotic king Mahinda. Don't take the people for a ride!
The western powers have always been meddling in eastern countries..even before colonial purge ,in modern times they are represented by christian lobby and capitalists out to loot whats remaining .I appreciate the bold stance taken by lanka rising.
