The need of the hour, isolating real patriots from pseudo-patriots

12 Nov 2009

When the dead body of LTTE terrorist leader Piripaharan was showed in the TV the whole Sri Lankan nation was jubilant and they walk into the streets to celebrate the victory. Piripaharan and his LTTE is no more. It symbolized the end of a dreadful nightmare and the beginning of a new era of peace in Sri Lanka. However, among the jubilant crowd, it was ironic to see a handful of strong sympethisers of the LTTE who once openly support LTTE terrorist’s separatist ideology.

For decades, Peripheral shaped Sri Lankan society. He was the centre of gravity around which others gyrated. His Nazi-like activities changed our lives. Since the triumph over the evils of the LTTE, there have been subtle attempts to sideline genuine patriots by a slew of pseudo-patriots who have suddenly emerged from nowhere to hog the limelight. If the nationalist who made immense contributions towards changing the course of the recent history of our motherland do not contain this undesirable situation, there is every possibility of these pseudo-patriots influencing the people with anti-nationalist views.

The real  patriots are those who never let down the flag of our mother country even at difficult times. The people who were at the side of political and military leadership when they badly needed the support. pseudo-patriots are mere opportunists who shamelessly change their side to cash in and fulfill their petty personal gains. There are plenty of local and foreign vicious elements to manipulate these pseudo-patriots knowing that they can easily be turned to their side if power is grabbed back from real patriots.

The victory over the LTTE is only a paradigm shift and nationalist forces are now duty bound to see the country moving towards the desired goals, preserving its sovereignty and safeguarding its newly-gained freedom against pro-LTTE foreign elements and their local lackeys.
